Activities
We are planning a series of important events to remember and honour the memory of a great Italian. On the 16th January of 2007 there will occur the 50th Anniversary of the Death of Maestro Toscanini, one of the most famous and known of all the Orchestra Directors.
As it has happened in Austria where, for the 250th Anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart birth, there have been a series of celebrations for the entire 2006. Following this example we are organising the same kind of events, in order not only to remember an extraordinary man, a great director but also to promote and improve “Italian image” worldwide.
The three main potential means that we would like use in order to create a profitable collaboration to promote Italian image abroad are:
-our relationship with the U.S.A. in fact Toscanini was the Director of New York Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic Orchestra and NBC Symphony Orchestra, and he died in the U.S.A.;
-the relationship with the Jewish community and the State of Israel : Toscanini directed the concert for the Palestine Symphony Orchestra of Tel Aviv, which he established grouping some Jewish people that escaped from the Holocaust;
-the opportunity to create some International events with the coordination with RAI, the Italian television, and others Italian structures, such as Milan Opera Theatre “La Scala”, that will guarantee the success of the work;
The structures already involved are:
-Rai, the Italian Television, through all its different offices, Rai International, Rai Trade;
-The historical Archive of Istituto Luce S.p.a.;
-The city of Milan;
-The city of New York;
-The city of Tel Aviv;
-The city of Parma;
-The Italian Music Institutions;
-Israel State;
-U.S.A.;
-The Italian Institutes of Culture Abroad.
Gruppo Angeli, already known in Italy for its organisation of “Musei Aperti per Tutti” (a project realised for the Italian Ministry of Good Arts), is the coordinator and the executive producer of the celebration initiatives, together with all the structures involved and thanks to the important help and support of RAI with all its different offices-RAI International, RAI Trade, RAI Promotion and Image- Historical Archive of Istituto Luce S.p.a., AKS S.r.l., the Gallery of Sauro Bocchi and Officina Film Club.
For what concerns the celebrations, following the example of the 1958 memorial, there are now establishing two Panels: Warrantors Panel, that at the time was named Comitato d'OnoreHonour Panel, and the Comitato EsecutivoExecutive Panel.
The celebration will cover the entire year of 2007, with some special occasion such as on the 16th of January “Toscanini Day”, the 11th of May the date of the re-opening of the Opera Theatre “La scala” and the 25th December the date of his famous concert.
The project comprehends also the creation of a special memorial stamp, and the opening could be inaugurated at Opera Theatre “La Scala” of Milan.
Moreover “Viva Toscanini” will be characterized by multi-level occasions locally, involving the most important cities in Maestro’s life, such as Milan, Parma, Tel Aviv, New York and then widespread worldwide.
The climax of the celebration year will be the “Toscanini Day”, on the 16th January 2007: all the Rai channel (digital channels as well) will be involved, it will be broadcasted not only the documentary movie, that we are planning to realise, but also all the material that we have collected for the occasion
To sum up:
1.the production of the documentary-movie, made by AKS S.r.l.
2.Toscanini Day broadcasted by Rai Television (moreover it has been planned a documentary that will follow the travels of Maestro Toscanini, along the different countries, made by Paola Severini)
3.The realisation of a special box, containing all the available material, together with some interviews to the most famous and living opera directors, the box will be prepared by Rai Trade,
4.Other initiatives such as different musical occasion in Italy and abroad (Israel and U.S.A.):
5.A piece on the life of Maestro Toscanini for a tournée in the Italian theatres.
6.Merchandising and marketing actions.
7.A visual art exhibition, with paintings and visual arts, that will take place in Milan, Roma, and Parma (eventually New York, and Jerusalem)
8.The movie festival “Viva Toscanini” that will take place in the cities of Parma, New York, Tel Aviv and Milan.
